A magical night
On Friday night, July 17, in the 111 degree heat, 150 heat-resistant residents got together for games, activities and a Dive In movie (appropriately, Ice Age). Led by Brian Funston and his staff from Fitness Experience (in the Mercado behind Goldie's), families joined in for water balloon dodgeball and other family-friendly games. Fitness Experience also supplied a Bouncy Castle, hot dogs, snow cones and bottled water.

Thanks to our movie sponsor, Fitness Experience -- the neighborhood gym just down Mountain View at the Mercado -- with a new management, new classes and a new look. They're also the nearest AARP Silver Sneakers gym, which means that their facilities are available without charge to seniors who purchased their medicare supplement through AARP.
Thanks, also, to Tom Fricker of AVR, who supplied the movie equipment -- which worked perfectly. (www.avrinc.com)
And a big thanks to our volunteers. Hope Smith and Sandra Kurlander checked everyone in and did an incredible job.
Feeding the Sharks at Stonegate Pool.
Wednesday, August 27 will be the end-of-season pizza-and-swimming party for the Stonegate Sharks swim team. If your child swam with the Sharks early in the season, but not at the end, Little Fins will be contacting you to come party with your team. If not -- call Little Fins at (480) 585-7684. Or contact them through their website: http://www.kickskids.com
If home improvement or landscape changes are on your mind. . .
Changes to your home’s exterior require architectural approval. It’s a simple process, no charge, and the documents you need (two forms and an information sheet) are available at the Community Center or on our website, http://stonegate-scottsdale.com/SG/Carousel/Archives/ Architectural approval does require a bit of planning, however. The Architectural Committee meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Applications must be received no later than 2PM on the preceding Saturday.
Our next collection will be the week of September 8. As always, the city wants you to have your brush and bulk items out early Monday morning, though they won’t say exactly when the items will be picked up. Please don’t get them out before Thursday or Friday of the preceding week. And please, please don't block the sidewalk.
